Will the Real Jan Brady Please Stand Up? was the 15th episode of Season 2 of the The Brady Bunch TV series, also the 40th overall episode in the series. Written by Bill Freedman and Al Schwartz and directed by Peter Baldwin, the episode premiered on ABC-TV, airing on January 15, 1971.
Jan thinks she is being shunned at school because of her blonde hair. So, she buys a black wig and plans to show off her new hairdo at a party.
Peter and Jan are invited to a party. Peter is reluctant to attend. Jan decides she needs a new look and buys a dark wig to stand out at the party. The plan fails when party-goers believe the ridiculous new look is Jan playing a joke, and she runs home in tears. Jan's friends show up to explain no offense was intended: they thought it was a joke because Jan's real hair is so beautiful.
Jan's invitation to Lucy Winters' birthday party being addressed to Marcia is the last straw for Jan in thinking that she is the invisible sister. To make herself stand out from both Marcia and Cindy, Jan decides to buy a short, curly, black wig. Although she initially tries to hide the fact of the wig from her family, everyone eventually finds out. They all think Jan looks ridiculous. But Jan is determined to show the world her new look, with the starting point being Lucy's party. How will Jan's friends react? Meanwhile, Peter too has been invited to Lucy's party. What Peter doesn't know is that his crush, Margie Rimple, who is always following him around against his will, is also going to be there.
